all the buildings are multicolored with strong blues, oranges, yellows, greesn. and i mean bright bright bright colors. the town could use a facelift as it is very old and mostly falling apart.
today we had breakfast at the copacabana hotel ... quite appropriate but it is based on the cuba copacabana cause one of the dishes was ROPA VIEJA which les ate. shredded beef and eggs and veggies. i know this is cuban food.
this morning we visited a cocoa plantatation that was owned by a german guy who was a doctor, he came over in the 20s to study tropical diseases and met a mex
ican woman and married and bought the cocoa plantation called a FINCA. we took a tour and it was very interesting.
from there we went to an indian pyramid setting. it is OLTEC or pre- maya. they used a sand rock with oyster base, then they put bricks and built these huge pyramids. this group is famous for their huge head sculptures but they have all been removed and placed in museums. there was no one at the site but us. thre were lots of green spaces with grass in between the pyramids ad there are somany mounds that have not yet been uncovered. wow.
so now we are in a town near the beach callled araiso, tabasco. from here we take the coast road heading back towards home. just made a quick stop to see the church, which is so colorful and different from any church we have seen so far. doing internet and moving on in a minute.
i thought of my son rafa as we just went by Rafa`s boutique hahahha
