Here we are in the capital of oaxaca state. it is a very busy city and the remnants of the spanish past as well as the intense indian presence is still very alive.
we found a wonderful restaurant on the main square and twice we have had the most amazing breakfast there....the restaurant is called el importador and the unique breakfast is called desayuno campesino or the farmers breakfast. it has a very different bean base enfriljolada as well as their unique tortillas from here and the filling is chicken. there is another chorizo sauce on top.... incredibly delicious
we went to a market yestereday that had tshirts, which we bought. and they sell all sorts of foods, most weird one for us ?????? fried grasshoppers !!! les tried one, can't say i am that adventurous !!! they are called champolines. shari asked for some friend ones and i can't find the plastic bags like chips of them , so instead we got her a champoline hot sauce. they say it is delicious !!!!
we also bought some bookmarks for xmas presents, they are hand carved ...really nice...
the temps are quite comfortable to hot during the day and we are only in february....imagine inthe heat of summer !!
i saw the cathedral. i saw benito juarezs house. and we walked around.
