the canon del sumidero and san cristobal de las casas

well....today has to go down in history as one of themost incredible days ever ..... it was so beautiful ... how the heck do you put paradise and God's magic into words ???

let me just say that I could die today - happily - and not regret it for a second.

first we drove to chiapa de corza.  that is where we were to catch the boat to go down the river. we had a cup of coffee waiting for the total number of people to reach 15. that part was not too fun, it took about 2 hours and we had already paid.  actually consideered leaving and then returning but we didn't and eventually the total reached 15.

the river trip - the canyon - the vegetation - the crocodiles - the birds - the lack of habitation - the blue sky - the green water

it ws incredible it was beautiful it was amazing.   two hours or pure bliss.  the pics do not do it justice.....

then wee decided to drive to san crostobal de las casas. we heard it was less than an hour drive and the GPS said the same thing. NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

it took us over two hours or more. we eneded up taking the non toll road which was a huge mistake.  we almos ended up in a ditch at the end and it was soooo steep that i had to get out of the car, direct les to go backwards. and we returned to another road. i was in a panic. the road was deserted, it was narrow. and the GPS was lost half the time. eventually we made it here and this town is magical.

there are indians from guatemala selling goods here. you hear their native languages right and left. tourists from all over the world.

did i say it was magical. it is.

and our hotel is old and has antiques.  the floors creek with history. it is expensive but this is where Les wanted to stay. and i lov eit. it is magical too.
