trip to coatzacoalcos in veracruz

oh boy, do we have stories to tell. today was supposed to be an easy ride, les wanted to discover the gulf coast. forget the highway, we want the small roads that will lead us across the coast. at one point, the tomtom indicated water on both sides....

right ???? no.

the road got worse and worse. more and more remote.  scarier and scarier. we were tooo far away to really turn back but the road was non existant most of the way - maybe in the last hurricane 3 yars ago, it just washed away in parts and has never been repaired.

so parts of it are now going thru people's lands and evey 50 feet they ask you for a toll payment. 10 pesos every 15 minutes gets real old.

then it got so remote that i thought we might get robbed, so we hid our money in a couple different sposts.

the ride was not even quite so pretty and the one time we got out to test the temp of the water - it was cold and the sand was not white and well.....not what we expected.

so, now that we are properly scared, we shall stick to the main roads. takes part of the beauty away but the side roads are just not do-able.

there arent even any nice towns right in our path according to my book......oh well,  we left tabasco - whch was 99% PEMEX all over - oil rigs and tubes and bldgs....

and now we are in veracruz........another state and another experience !!
