REVIEW OF THE PACIFIC MAINLAND MEXICO COAST

i thought i would recap and put down some of the main thoughts i had as i look back over the past days...

1. bring sunglasses and good ones. the sun is straight in yoru eyes for the first hours of the morning
2. it was very hot and humid. try to travel in feb.  it is the coolest tome of year and no rain.
3. hardest part for driver is south of puerto vallarta. u have to drive slowly. the road is windy.
4. topes or speed bumps are everywhere and mostly unannounced. you learn to hate them.
5. getting gas was never an issue.
6. hotels and restaurants are sometimes few and far between. PLAN FOR BIG TOWNS.
7. everyone burns trash. the smell is overwhelming most of the time. problem for asthmatics ?????
8. trash is everywhere. bummer. heartbreaking. sad. disgusting too.
9.if you like hammocks. buy them when you see them on the side of the road. the locals make them and they are really really nice. donot pay full price. knock it down quite a bit. really. our 1200 gorgeous white double with wood and side crochet hammock went from 1200 down to 850 pesos.
10 hand signals - flat hand up and down = slow down.  flag swinging sideways = go.
11 very few military stops.
12 if you like coconut - COCO FRIO is quite popular.
13 comedor means family restaurant.

we felt safe the entire time and i watch the news and dont undertand why they focus so much on the negative when mexico has sooooooooooo much going for it ...
